ExtendCast™ Asparagus

ExtendCast™ Asparagus is a retail bag for packing fresh Asparagus immediately after their harvest, transporting them up to 21 days at 1-2⁰C and then displaying them in the same bag in retail conditions for additional 8 days in optimal marketable conditions.
By modifying the atmosphere and humidity in the bag, ExtendCast™ Asparagus saves up to 43% weight loss, compared to unpacked Asparagus and 25% weight loss compared to traditionally transported and packed Asparagus and extends the shelf life of the Asparagus up to double, compared to the latter methods. Additionally, ExtendCast™ Asparagus saves the use of a box liners or wet padded transport boxes, and unnecessary processes of repacking at the destination market, thus saving money and allowing for swifter and more cost-effective logistics and distribution of the produce.
